Today was much better in the productivity dept. We started the day at the old factory, and the team was very interested to see the new process for making the stoves, and people were impressed with the flower plantings, the rock walls, etc. When we arrived at the new factory, there was an electrical cable running down the side of the road for at least 2 blocks worth to provide electricity to the site. Yes, a real electrical cable! So welding was finally begun, and since it's happening at least 10 feet up in the air, Bob the expert welder is doing the work, not the neophytes. We finished the 2 rock walls that surround the garden, did a lot more weeding, and got some more painting of sheet metal completed after several hours were spent locating some paint. Tomorrow, more of the same, including beginning a retaining wall at the uphill end of the site.

People seem to be enjoying the dinner program: a different restaurant every nite. Tonight's was at a place with live Latino music that we discovered last week.

We've been doing remarkably well re: communication, in spite of little common language. Gustavo and Beatriz have been super, and Jack is also happy to help out there. The rest of us get a lot accomplished with sign language and the few words that we pick up along the way.
