Not much news today. We were to go to the crocodile farm but that has been rescheduled for tomorrow as has the meeting with the brickmaker. I slept well under my mosquito net in the loft and awoke at 5:30 to the dogs racing up the stairs after the cats. No time like early morning for a good walk down to the pond and up the hills to the little cemetery across the way. The dogs came along for a run and I met Angelica on the return as she had come down the road and was sitting on top of the little earthenware dam looking at the beautiful sunrise. No snakes, no poisonous insects today other than the colorful grasshoppers who might make you pretty sick if you decided to ingest one.

Anton and Leslie are working on Christmas ornaments, Rudi and Angelica have gone to town on webmaster business, and I'm reading about Africa and the upliftment activities of the local nonprofits.

I learned a bit about cooking last night as Angelica made a fabulous veggie stew in one of the local three-legged cast-iron pots. A fire is made in half a barrel on one side, coals are raked to the opposing side and the pot is put over hot coals. Onions and garlic are fried in the bottom of the pot and then veggies are added in layers with the hard veggies first and the soft ones added later. All of this was topped off with smoked paprika and herbs from the garden...yummy, and it gave me an idea of what types of pots we need to accommodate with our Ecocina other than the cheap ones used for maize-meal.

More anon...it's too hot to sit inside and type. I'm going out to the garden.
